We fail to stand as one and begin to fall apart with the loss of human dignity

The loss of respect for Human Dignity

Dignity with respect to the person is rooted inside each of us to inspire the rational capacity for self-determination, problem solving, and love. In this way, each human being is a thread to the fabric of humanity.

Understanding the absolute value of Human Dignity is a prerequisite to seeing the requisite for respecting the rational capacity for self-determination, problem solving, and love of each individual person.

It is the responsibility of every person to respect the value and worth of every human being, regardless of who that person is or what they represent. When we are hurt by others or have varying perspectives, human dignity and respect keep us grounded.

The composite makeup of humanity, formed by cross-sections of culture, race, sex, and religion, forms infinite perspectives of the world humanity shares. This is a beautiful thing, but if (and when) we lose sight of individual inherent dignity, we begin to marginalize individuals thereby losing respect for their inherent human dignity. When we begin to lose respect for human dignity at an individual level, we begin to erode the fabric of humanity. By doing so, we are reducing the absolute value and potential of humanity.

When we begin to accept a reduction in the value and potential of humanity, we begin to accept a reduction of our freedom. Read more about this in our book, Conflict: Recognizing Human Dignity as a Solution to Humanity’s Greatest Challenges.
